How To Open A Turtle

11/19/04

"There was a boy who found a terrapin, more commonly known as a turtle.

He started to examine it but the turtle pulled in its head and closed its shell like a vice. The boy was upset and he picked up a stick to try to pry it open.

The boy's uncle saw all this and remarked, 'No, that's not the way! In fact, you may kill the turtle but you'll not get it to open up with a stick.'

The uncle took the terrapin into the house and set it near the fireplace. It wasn't but a few minutes until it began to get warm. Then the turtle pushed out its head, then stretched out its legs and began to crawl. ‘Turtles are like that,' said the uncle, ‘and people, too. You can't force them into anything. But if you first warm them up with some real kindness, more than likely, they will do what you want them to do.'"

(Isn't this a good example of how to become more familiar with the quieter ones in our congregations)

The Universe - Big and Small

10/1/04

View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth. Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude until you reach a tall oak tree just outside the buildings of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. After that, begin to move from the actual size of a leaf into a microscopic world that reveals leaf cell walls, the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally, into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons.

Your Drivers License Online

8/20/04

OK, this is just too much! Can you say "privacy?" As in, "where is our right to it???"
I definitely removed mine, I suggest you all do the same ....Now you can see anyone's Driver's License on the Internet, including your own! I just searched for mine and there it was ...picture and all! Thanks Homeland Security! Maybe we should start up a petition or something protesting this. What do you think?

Go to the website and check it out. It's unbelievable!!! Just enter your name, city and state to see if yours is on file. After your license comes on the screen, click the box marked "Please Remove". This will remove it from public viewing, but not from law enforcement.

Cheep Cell Phone Headset

2/06/04

EDITOR'S NOTE:  Friends, we usually do not promote businesses within the subscriber list, however, this is an exceptional value.

New Law
I don't know if you've heard, but starting Jan 1, 2004 you will no longer be able to use a cell phone while driving unless you have a "hands free" adapter. I went to Circuit City and they wanted $50 for a
headset with a boom microphone for my cell phone.  Having a friend in  the cell phone business, I talked with him and was able to come up with  an alternative, working through Office Depot.

These kits are compatible
with any mobile phone and one size fits all. I paid $0.08 each because  he bought in quantity. I'm selling them for only $1.00. I tried them out on Erickson, Motorola, Nokia phones and they worked perfectly.

A photo is attached.   Take a look and let me know if you want one. Also, forward this to anyone you know who may want one!

Ever wonder what the Vikings ate when they set off to explore the new world? How Thomas Jefferson made his ice cream? What the pioneers cooked along the Oregon Trail? Who invented the potato chip...and why? Food is the fun part of social studies! The tricky part is finding recipes you can make in a modern kitchen, with ingredients bought at your local supermarket and bring into school to share with your class. This page is for you!
